Advent has a way about shedding light on injustice. No matter our politics or the politics of Jesus's time - the dignity of the human person was what Jesus came to protect. You and I have the same responsibility - maybe not to solve world issues, but the ones in our homes and neighborhoods, places of work, worship and learning.

The days are a little darker, but there is something about Advent and the hope and anticipation that makes us ready for something lovely or beautiful around every corner. Today - the scriptures are inviting us to rejoice - to notice all that we have and to be grateful for the little things. My joy today is in a happy phone call from my friend - just wanting to say hello. She reminded me that to be thought of and loved is a gift!

For many of us, the pace of life has moved over concrete and inhospitable ground and we find ourselves deeply searching- for, joy, forgiveness, healing, completion and peace. Navigating ministry can be its own particular thin space where we meet God and humanity meet in a powerful way.

Drawing on her Irish-Celtic heritage, Julianne Stanz helps us explore those times and holy places of transformation. Inspired by faith and guided by spiritual practices, we can experience each thin place as a point of departure on a sacred journey to a truer understanding of who we are meant to be. Julianne Stanz will explore how, in these thin spaces we encounter ourselves, our relationship with others and ultimately with God and how they can open up new ways of seeing, fresh avenues of thinking and ultimately, transformed ways of being.
