Want to have your voice heard on the proposed changes to HIP 3.0? Check out this post from the Indiana Community Action Poverty Institute!

Indiana is requesting permission to change HIP in two major ways:
1. Limiting the number of people who can receive health insurance if they feel they do not have enough money
2. Adding copayments of $5-35 for certain health needs

They are calling this new version “HIP 3.0"

250 local kids are stepping into the new school year fully equipped and confident! 👟✨

We are grateful to everyone who helped make our Ready, Set, Learn event a success. Every child walked away with a brand-new pair of shoes, plus a $100 Walmart clothing gift card.

Our fantastic partners at Shoe Sensation went above and beyond—helping every kid find their favorite pair of shoes and teamed up with Skechers to provide back sacks and pencil cases. Plus, Thrive RCO was on-site providing vital recovery and mental health resources for families.

When our community comes together, amazing things happen. Thank you for taking action with us to support local families! ❤️

OVO will be hosting a Ready, Set, Learn event this Sunday, August 30th from 9AM-3PM.

Eligible children (Pre-School through High School) and reside in Jefferson, Jennings, and Scott County are able to receive one pair of shoes & a $100 Walmart Gift Card. The gift card can only be used for clothing items.

If you are interested, please call (812) 265-5858, Option 1, and ask for Emily. She will be happy to complete the screening process with you and determine whether you are eligible to participate.

💪Growing Stronger Together for Southeastern Indiana💪

Ohio Valley Opportunities (OVO) is excited to share a major step forward in strengthening family services across our region!

Recently, Community Action of Southern Indiana (CASI) voted to endorse OVO as the successor provider for Clark, Floyd, and Harrison counties. As we work toward a definitive agreement and funder approval, OVO is preparing to expand our regional service footprint—ensuring Head Start, Weatherization, Housing Choice Vouchers, and community support programs continue without interruption.

Our goal remains simple: one door, more help behind it, served by the local team members who know their communities best.

Big smiles, bright eyes, and a whole lot of learning! 🎨✨

We had an incredible first week of Head Start! From discovering new classrooms and making new best friends to enjoying delicious, healthy meals together, our students are off to an amazing start.

Our teachers and staff are so grateful for the trust our families place in us every day. We can’t wait to watch these bright minds grow, learn, and shine all year long!

☀️ Helping Hoosiers Beat the Heat! ❄️

One happy little helper couldn't resist checking out the cool delivery! These portable A/C units will help local families stay safe and comfortable during Indiana's summer heat.

Thanks to a partnership between the Duke Energy Foundation and Ohio Valley Opportunities (OVO), 113 portable air conditioning units were distributed to residents in Clark, Floyd, Jefferson, Jennings, and Scott counties this week.

The Duke Energy Foundation contributed $20,000, which was matched by $12,000 from OVO, to purchase the units through Lowe’s and provide relief during Indiana’s hot summer temperatures.

"As Indiana’s summer heat continues to challenge residents, access to a portable air conditioner can make a significant difference," added OVO Executive Director Brad Wood.

OVO promotes the professional development of our staff. Our administrative office will be closed Wednesday (at noon)- Friday for staff training. Thank you for your patience and normal business hours will resume on Monday, July 13th.
