Friends of Lakeview Library - Madison Public Library

Friends of Lakeview Library - Madison Public Library Madison Public Library, Northside neighborhood Lakeview's Friends conduct book sales and collect membership fees and donations.

We fund programs, materials, subscriptions and furnishings that are beyond what the library's city budget can cover. We tend the garden and indoor plants, and provide refreshments for special occasions. And we work to keep Lakeview visible by hosting Northside events and by representing Lakeview in the wider community.

Are you a saver? Do you have a hard time getting rid of things because maybe they'll be useful one day? Well maybe today could be THE day for your stored items to turn into community treasure!

Lakeview Library and the Northside Planning Council are on a joint mission to catalog our archive of past Northside News issues.

We have (each) been collecting them for 30 years! And miraculously, each organization is only missing 8 issues (16 total). So we are putting out a call to our Northside/ library communities to see if there's anyone else with a historical collection that would be willing to donate their copies for the sake of complete community collections at Madison Public Library and Northside Planning Council.

Here are the issues that we're missing:

Apr-May 2003
Oct-Nov 2007
Dec 2008-Jan 2009
Apr-May 2009
Apr-May 2015
Oct-Nov 2015
Apr-May 2018
Aug-Sep 2018
Oct-Nov 2018
Jun-Jul 2018
Jun-Jul 2019
Aug-Sep 2019 (we need 2!)
Feb-Mar 2021
Oct-Nov 2021
Apr-May 2022

If you have any of these in good condition that you're willing to donate, please drop them by Lakeview Library, and label them "for community archive".
(Please note that we are only accepting Northside News issues. We are unable to accept any other papers).

Thanks for checking your home library!
Thanks for supporting your local community history!
