🩵 June is PTSD Awareness Month 🩵
At Monrovia Volunteer Fire & Rescue, June serves as an important reminder that mental health matters especially for those who answer the call when others are experiencing some of the worst moments of their lives.
Our Firefighter and EMTs respond to routine calls as well as severe emergencies, traumatic accidents, critical medical calls, and other incidents that can leave lasting emotional impacts. While first responders are trained to handle these situations professionally, the effects of repeated exposure to trauma can take a significant toll on mental health.
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) affects many first responders across the nation. Bringing awareness to PTSD and other mental health challenges helps reduce stigma and encourages those who may be struggling to seek support.
At Monrovia Volunteer Fire & Rescue, we are committed to supporting the wellness of our members both on and off the emergency scene with our Crisis Team. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and no one should have to face these challenges alone.
This month, we encourage our community to learn more about PTSD and help break the stigma of mental health. Support those who need help.
If you or someone you know is struggling, remember: seeking help is a sign of strength. It’s ok to not be ok.
