Part of being a libertarian is our belief in volunteerism… Tonight we took action in that belief and completed our first highway cleanup of the year. A beautiful clear night, comfortable temps, and plenty of bug spray (no ticks for us thank you very much) allowed us to gather 5 bags of trash.

Thank you to our friends from Fox Valley Libertarians for the equipment use and thank you to Phillip Anderson, Manda Marie, and Jordan Andrew for your support!

Why does a Libertarian candidate for Wisconsin Secretary of State matter?

Because under Wisconsin law, receiving at least 1% of the vote in a statewide general election is critical for maintaining recognized party status and preserving ballot access for future Libertarian candidates, including candidates for President, Governor, Congress, Legislature, and local office.

Without that threshold, future candidates can face significantly greater petitioning requirements and additional barriers just to appear on the ballot.

This race is bigger than one office. It directly impacts the future ability of Libertarian candidates across Wisconsin to compete, organize, and give voters another choice outside the two-party system.

Right now, the first challenge is qualifying for the ballot itself.

Dalton LaPorte for Secretary of State is currently collecting signatures statewide to appear on the ballot for Wisconsin Secretary of State before the June 1 deadline, and volunteers are needed across Wisconsin to help gather signatures.

Even collecting a handful of signatures in your community can help protect ballot access for future Libertarian candidates statewide.

If you are willing to help petition in your area, please reach out and get involved.

Ballot access is the foundation for everything else.

This post is intended to support ballot access efforts and is not a formal endorsement by the Libertarian Party of Wisconsin.
