Incorporated in 1961, the Friends of the Madison Public Library provides monetary and volunteer support for the entire Madison Public Library community. We are seeking volunteers for the FMPL bookstore to fill open cashier shifts! Bookstore shifts are 2-3 hours during operating hours of the library. Volunteers help by cashiering, keeping the store organized, and answering customer questions.

This is a great volunteer opportunity for a wide range of ages and ability levels, with volunteers able to read, work, or study during the downtime! Training is provided before your first shift.

The theme at the bookstore this month is Focus on Family! Come find a selection of children’s literature, books on family health and wellness, and books on parenting - along with children’s and educational DVDs!

Our wonderful volunteers wrapped up books for children’s chapter books, and your child’s next favorite read could be inside! Blind books are priced as marked - $0.50-$1.00.

We recognize and honor Bill Webb, a prolific donor to the FMPL bookstore. Bill donated hundreds of books of various genres from his special collection. It meant the world to him that his books were being passed on to others to enjoy while supporting the library at the same time. ❤️

WOW!! Thank you all so much for showing up for the library this weekend for the sale! We had such a great turnout, including a customer who came back on Saturday after having such a great time on Friday!

Our fantastic volunteers kept the store stocked, and we had so many customers we cleared some shelves in our usually packed store room! We are making room for new and fun items, so be sure to check back in often :) thank you for your support, and we can’t wait to see you next time!
