Congratulations to the spring graduates of the Chippewa Valley Technical College Law Enforcement Academy. Three of our newest officers can be seen holding their certificates after this morning’s ceremony. Officers Osunlana, Castro, and Easker will begin their on-the-street training next week as they continue their journey with the Eau Claire Police Department. Congratulations to all three on this important accomplishment, and welcome to the profession!

“‘[M]embers of the public are being asked to draw conclusions based largely upon competing characterizations of the incident rather than a complete review of the underlying evidence,’ [WPPA Executive Director Jim Palmer] said. ‘That is not healthy for public confidence, nor is it fair to anyone involved — including the officers…’”

Without seeing a complete review, the public will draw conclusions based largely on competing characterizations of the incident, Wisconsin Professional Police Association Executive Director Jim Palmer said.

“The [WPPA] called for the release of all audio and video evidence connected to the incident.

“WPPA Executive Director Jim Palmer said the public is currently being asked to rely on ‘competing characterizations’ of what happened rather than reviewing the full evidence themselves.

“‘Public trust is best served when facts — not rhetoric, assumptions, or selective summaries — guide the conversation,’ Palmer said.

“The organization said releasing the evidence would allow the public to evaluate the encounter in its entirety and ensure conclusions are based on full context.”

Please LIKE to join the WPPA in honoring the courageous men and women of law enforcement during National Police Week.

This week, we remember the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities, while also recognizing those who continue to wear the badge with integrity, professionalism, and courage each and every day.

The WPPA proudly stands with Wisconsin’s law enforcement officers and their families — honoring the fallen, supporting their loved ones, and thanking those who continue to protect and serve our communities.
