You’ve been asking —
and as of 8:00 AM today, the Madison County Burn Ban has officially been lifted. ✅🔥

However, we strongly urge all residents to burn responsibly.

While conditions have improved enough to lift the ban, wildfire danger can still increase rapidly due to dry vegetation, wind, and changing weather conditions. One unattended fire can quickly spread and threaten homes, property, timberland, and lives.

If you choose to burn:
• Never leave a fire unattended
• Keep a water source nearby
• Avoid burning on windy days
• Fully extinguish all fires before leaving
• Monitor surrounding areas for fire spread

Madison County Fire Rescue will continue monitoring fire conditions closely across our region.

We appreciate the community’s cooperation during the burn ban and thank everyone for helping keep Madison County safe!

Back in July, we received $700,000 through state appropriations to purchase 2 new ambulances. The first of these two trucks has been completed, with the second being completed in a few weeks. Additionally, we received $190,000 in grant funding to purchase a Type II van ambulance.

MCFR units were dispatched to a male in distress inside a bucket truck after a bucket lift malfunction left him stranded at an elevated height, unable to safely return to the ground.

Members of our USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) team—Engineer Dyer, Firefighter King, and Engineer Perkins—quickly assessed the situation and executed a rope rescue operation. Through coordinated efforts and technical proficiency, crews safely returned the patient to the ground without incident.

At MCFR, we place a strong emphasis on specialized training for high-risk, low-frequency incidents like this. Our personnel regularly train in technical rescue disciplines—including rope rescue, confined space, and elevated operations—so we are better prepared when situations like this arise.

This ongoing commitment to training ensures not only the safety of our responders, but also enhances the safety and protection of the community we proudly serve.
