Today, we celebrate Flag Day and honor the symbol that has represented our nation's history, freedom, and unity for generations.

If you find yourself downtown today, be sure to take a stroll through Lamplighter Park and view the new flags proudly lining the riverfront! Thank you to Lisa Ferguson, the Jefferson County Republican Women’s Club, and the Madison Riverfront Development Committee for their generosity and support in helping make this beautiful addition possible. We also extend our appreciation to the City Street Department for installing the flags.

Last week, our Youth Cheer Camp wrapped up with a special performance on Friday, giving families the opportunity to see everything our cheerleaders learned throughout the week!

Thank you to all of our young cheerleaders for joining us for a fun-filled week of learning, teamwork, and cheering. We also extend a special thank-you to our Youth Cheer League Director, Olivia, for her dedication to teaching our youth and creating a positive, welcoming environment where everyone could learn, grow, and have fun.

As a friendly reminder, registration for our regular cheer season ends tomorrow, June 9, and uniform fittings will be held on Wednesday, June 10, at 5:30 PM at the Brown Gym. There are still spots available! If you haven't registered your child but would still like to, visit madison-in.gov/rec and click on the Cheerleading Membership tab to view program details and sign up.

We look forward to another exciting season of cheering, building confidence, and creating lasting memories together this summer! 📣

Registration for our 2026 Youth Pickleball Camp is open!

Join us Monday, June 15, through Friday, June 19, from 2:30–3:30 PM at the Brown Gym (100 Broadway St.) for a fun and active week of learning the basics of pickleball. The camp is open to students in grades 3–6 and is a great opportunity to build skills, stay active, and have fun this summer!

The registration fee is $25. Register today at madison-in.gov/rec.

June is Great Outdoors Month! ☀️🌿

There’s no better time to get outside—our Parks and Recreation activities make it easy to explore, play, and enjoy the great outdoors right here in our community. From our many parks and playgrounds to community events, youth sports, summer camps, and more, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Splash around at Crystal Beach Aquatic Park, play a round of golf at Sunrise Golf Course, camp along the Ohio River at Riverview Campground, or enjoy a game of pickleball at the Mary Kay McCubbin Sport Court. Take a lap around Johnson Lake, cast a line, or catch a movie at Bicentennial Park during our Mayor’s Movies in the Park events. Whatever you choose, get outside with us this month!

Today, we celebrated one of our seniors, Anna Mae, on her 103rd birthday!

With a donut cake and a nice lunch, a visit from Mayor Bob Courtney, and more, we enjoyed a memorable afternoon honoring Anna Mae and celebrating 103 incredible years.

Thank you, Anna Mae, for the joy and wit you bring to the Senior Center. We hope you have a wonderful birthday and an amazing year ahead! 🥳
