On behalf of the Adelante Board of Directors, we express our deepest condolence to the family of Juan Jose Lopez. Our community has experienced a great loss. A community leader who made a significant impact on so many lives.

Juan Jose Lopez was the co-founder of Adelante and recently served as President. He was a true advocate for the advancement of our communities of color and young people within the Madison community.

Adelante is committed to increase the number of people of color in elected and administrative positions on all levels of decision making on the local, state and national governmental levels who further policies and laws that advance health and welfare of communities of color.

Juan was extremely committed to ensure that we had representation at all levels of government and leadership. He spent his time recruiting, training and mentoring young people to run for political office or seek appointed positions.

The Adelante community will miss him, and his legacy will move on through those he supported in government elected and appointed positions. His legacy will live on as Adelante continues to strive to fulfill the mission, vision and commitment of Juan Jose Lopez.
