State Representative Samba Baldeh spoke at the Juneteenth flag-raising at the City County Building today.
Rep. Baldeh stated: It was an honor to attend and speak at today's flag-raising commemorating Juneteenth. Juneteenth reminds us that our lives are all part of a complicated history. Whether we are aware or not, it is always there. It is inescapable. I did not grow up here, but as soon as I arrived, that history was there to greet me, along with everything that comes with it. I see this day as a call to service, to always be aware of how far we’ve come and how we are honoring the struggles and achievements of those who come before us. Let us continue to educate ourselves, uplift one another, and work towards a future where freedom and equality are truly for all.
