Today, we remember the Americans who laid down their lives in service to our country. Memorial Day is a solemn reminder of the cost of freedom and the sacrifice made by those who never returned home.

We honor the fallen, mourn their loss, and pray for the families who carry that sacrifice every day. May we never forget those who gave their lives so that we may live in freedom.

It was a privilege to attend the Memorial Day ceremony at the War Memorial Center and see the Field of Flags. One American Flag is displayed for each of the 27,316 service members who paid the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our great nation.
May we never forget their sacrifice!

I am deeply frustrated that Senate Democrats blocked the bipartisan surplus deal last week.
The agreement would have returned Wisconsin’s surplus to the hardworking people by:
- Providing $300 rebate checks for workers
- Delivering property tax relief
- Eliminating the state income tax on tips and overtime pay
- Creating a Wisconsin disaster recovery program
- Making a record investment in K-12 special education

The bipartisan plan would have used $1.8 billion of the state’s $2.4 billion surplus to provide meaningful relief and support for Wisconsin families and communities.

Because Senate Democrats blocked the bill, those funds will now remain in the state treasury until the next legislative session.

Today, we celebrate Armed Forces Day and honor the courageous men and women currently serving in the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Space Force. 🇺🇸

Armed Forces Day is an opportunity to recognize those who wear the uniform and dedicate their lives to protecting our nation and defending our freedoms. Their commitment, professionalism, and sacrifice deserve our deepest gratitude.

Wisconsin is proud of the many service members and military families who contribute to the strength and security of our state and country. Thank you for your service and for all you do on behalf of the American people.

Wisconsin has a budget surplus due to a strong economy, and it's time to return the money to the hardworking people of Wisconsin!
The surplus compromise proposes the following:
• Provides most single tax filers with a $300 rebate, and most married coupled filing jointly with a $600 rebate
• Buys downs property taxes by providing over $300 million in property tax relief through the school funding formula
• Eliminates the state income tax on tips
• Eliminates the state income tax on overtime
• Funds special education by an additional $300 million
In total, this funding package spends $1.8 billion through rebate payments, property tax relief, income tax relief, and an increase in special education reimbursement.

Part of Wisconsin's $4.6 billion budget surplus will be used for schools and tax cuts under a deal announced by Gov. Tony Evers and Republican leaders.
