She leads from the heart with a commitment to equity and non-discrimination, embodying the values that drive positive change. Her son, Jeff Mack Jr., had the honor of presenting her with the award, sharing heartfelt words that beautifully highlighted her role as dedicated social servant. His tribute captured the profound impact she has made both in her personal life and in her work for the community.

Black high school hockey players who made the All City Hockey Team in the 1960s: Dave Davenport, Ed Mathews II, and Calvin Harris III. Black youth were more involved in sports and activities in Madison than they are today! Every time I hear someone in our community who knows little about Black history in Madison say, "This is the first time..." or "We haven't be able to..." or "We have never...", I bristle. WE HELPED MAKE MADISON WHAT IT IS TODAY, AND IN SO MANY WAYS! What I have been working on writing will show you! Onward. Shout to my cousins: Colin K. Gavin, Aaron Gavin and Maurice Gavin who were outstanding hockey players in their youth in Madison, and to our brothers Colin Jones and Charles Harris who was awesome on those ice skates, too!
