Madison Lake Fire & Rescue is made up of up to 25 dedicated members from the residents of Madison Lake and the surrounding area. All members are trained to NFPA firefighter standards and hold a current medical certification at the level of First Responder, EMT, or Paramedic.

What is Carbon Monoxide?
👉A poisonous, odorless, colorless, and tasteless gas produced by the incomplete burning of carbon-based fuels.

Why is Carbon Monoxide dangerous?
👉It replaces the oxygen in red blood cells and prevents oxygen transport within your body.

What are common sources of Carbon Monoxide?
👉Anything with a combustion engine, gas-powered appliances, furnaces, water heaters, charcoal grills, supplemental heaters, etc.

How do I protect myself and my family?
✅Install Carbon Monoxide alarms near sleeping areas and on every level of your home.
✅Make sure your alarms are working, are not expired, and that you regularly change the batteries.
✅Ensure fuel-burning appliances are used properly, are well maintained, and are properly vented.
✅Never use grills, generators, or propane heaters in enclosed areas.
✅Open the garage door before starting your vehicle.
