There will be a meeting today at 2pm for reconsideration. I wil not be present due to my employment. This action was brought back by council who voted to cancel the event. I asked our city manager yesterday when the meeting was announced to make sure it was going to be live streamed for the purpose for those those who can’t make the meeting. There is time for people to email the clerk for comments. I and others advocated for the meeting to be broadcast live online.

City Council proclaimed May Jewish American Heritage Month in Madison Heights!

For generations, Jewish Americans have helped shape our nation, from science and business to public service, the arts, and the fight for justice. Here in Madison Heights, our Jewish neighbors have played an important role in building a strong, vibrant community through service, philanthropy, and civic engagement.

In honor of these contributions, at the May 11th meeting, City Council officially proclaimed May 2026 as Jewish American Heritage Month in Madison Heights. We’re invited to learn, reflect, and celebrate the heritage, resilience, and cultural richness that Jewish Americans bring to our city and our country. Learn more by visiting www.jewishamericanheritage.org

Here’s to diversity, understanding, and Creating Community in Madison Heights, today and always.

I will not be attending this service on the 21st of March due to it occuring the same time as services for a Major Jewish Holiday. For many years the Memorial Day Parade was held on Saturdays which caused the Jewish War Veterans not able to attend due to it being held on the Shabbat. This year the event occurs on a Major Jewish Holiday named Shavuot.

Recently there has been a C&G News article and now a flier stating that the city is putting on with the Women’s Club the Memorial Day Event. The Memorial Day Event on Thursday before Memorial Day was organized fully by the Madison Heights Women’s Club. The council has not voted on having the event and the council nor the city make a decision to end the Parade. While I am appreciative of the event occurring , as a veteran and a member of the VFW it does sadden myself that a memorable and somber that event that was a part of our city’s rich traditions was canceled by the Independent parade committee due to several issues. I am looking forward to the possibility of building new traditions this summer.

If your suffering anxiety or mental heath or frustration with stress, there are professionals you can see and talk to. There is talk of “scream clubs” that have taken place in the past and some have tried to claim that it helps mental health and stress. This might provide good feelings and a stress release. I would also recommend consultation with professional therapist for anxiety, stress, anger, and more. Getting to the root cause of your issues is very important. Nobody on our council is a licensed mental Health Professional including myself. Please take care of yourselves. You can always call 988 for help also.
