Nothing beats a cold glass of lemonade on a warm day! 🍋☀️

Our officers had the opportunity to stop by and cool off at a lemonade stand hosted by Girl Scout Troop 4052. Not only did they enjoy some refreshing lemonade, but they also spent time visiting with the troop and members of our community.

The community connections continued later in the day during a call for service at Lowe's, where officers received a special visit from the Wolf Man of Raider Nation. His enthusiasm and support helped make the day even more memorable and brought a few extra smiles along the way.

Thank you to Girl Scout Troop 4052 for your hospitality, community spirit, and delicious lemonade, and thank you to the Wolf Man for stopping by to show your support. We truly appreciate opportunities like these to connect with the people we proudly serve.

WEEKEND ENFORCEMENT UPDATE
Today, the Weekend Day Shift Team conducted proactive patrols throughout the City of Madera, focusing on crime suppression, traffic enforcement, and community safety. As a result of these efforts, officers made four notable felony arrests:

Felony Arrest #1

While patrolling the area of Clinton Street and Pershing Street, Officer Rolfo observed Jessie Maldonado (35), whom he recognized as having an outstanding felony bench warrant for assault with a deadly weapon. Officer Rolfo contacted Maldonado and took him into custody without incident. Maldonado was booked into the Madera County Jail.

Felony Arrest #2

Officer Rolfo contacted Javier Gomez Torrez (26) in the area of South Gateway Drive and West 7th Street. Through his investigation, Torrez was identified as a suspect in a recent attempted burglary at a dental office located on West 4th Street. Torrez was arrested for attempted burglary and booked into the Madera County Jail.

Felony Arrests #3 & #4

This afternoon, Officer Juarez was dispatched to a reported vehicle burglary in the parking lot of Sonic Drive-In. Witnesses reported observing a male and female suspect break into a parked vehicle before fleeing the area after being confronted.

Officers quickly responded and conducted an area search, locating the suspects a short time later. The pair were identified as Evan Perez (22) and Trisha Valencia (20). Following the investigation, both were arrested for vehicle burglary and booked into the Madera County Jail.

Today's arrests highlight the value of proactive patrols, rapid response, and the partnership between our officers and community members who promptly report criminal activity. The Madera Police Department remains committed to keeping our neighborhoods safe and holding offenders accountable.

We thank our community for their continued support and vigilance. If you witness suspicious activity, please report it immediately.

Keeping Our Youth Safe: To***co Decoy Operation Update

It might seem like a minor infraction on the surface, but keeping to***co out of the hands of minors is a crucial step in preventing lifelong addiction. Recently, Madera PD conducted a To***co Decoy Operation across town to see how easily underage individuals can access to***co products. An undercover juvenile stood outside 7 different mini-marts and gas stations, asking adults to purchase to***co products for them (a tactic known as "shoulder tapping").

The Results:
• The Good News: A huge thank you to the many responsible citizens who did the right thing, said no, and walked away. Your choice helps keep our community's youth safe.
• The Reality Check: Unfortunately, four citizens agreed to purchase to***co for the underage decoy and were cited accordingly.

Why This Matters:

Providing to***co to a minor isn't just a favor or a minor lapse in judgment—it is illegal. More importantly, it directly fuels juvenile ni****ne addiction.

We all play a role in protecting the next generation. Let's keep working together to keep our town healthy and law-abiding.

Over the past two nights, Madera Police Department night shift officers have contacted multiple ATV riders operating within the city limits. These vehicles are classified as off-highway vehicles and are prohibited from being operated on public streets. Last night, Officer Barajas contacted a 14-year-old juvenile who was riding an ATV near the Fresno River Trail shortly after midnight. After the juvenile attempted to avoid contact, Officer Barajas successfully located him, safely recovered the ATV, and returned the juvenile to his parents without injury. The ATV was subsequently towed and charges will be forwarded to the Juvenile Probation office.

The previous evening, Officer Rangel contacted 25-year-old Luis Sucilla after observing him and another rider operating ATVs through a neighborhood near National Avenue and Williams Avenue. During the investigation, Officer Rangel determined that Sucilla was on parole and had an active felony no-bail warrant for absconding. Sucilla was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Madera County Jail.

The Madera Police Department regularly receives complaints regarding off-highway vehicles being operated recklessly throughout our neighborhoods, often at excessive speeds and in violation of traffic laws. We want the community to know that our officers remain committed to addressing these violations through proactive enforcement and education efforts. We will continue to regulate the unlawful operation of off-road vehicles within the city as part of our ongoing mission to reduce traffic collisions, improve roadway safety, and enhance the quality of life for all residents.

We encourage parents and riders to familiarize themselves with California's off-highway vehicle laws and to operate these vehicles only in designated areas where they are legally permitted.

The Madera Police Department has recently seen an increase in vehicle burglaries throughout our community. Please remember to lock your vehicles, remove valuables, and report any suspicious activity immediately.

Trades workers staying in local hotels are especially encouraged to secure tools and equipment, as work vehicles are often targeted in hotel parking lots. We realize you may not always be able to remove your tools, but any extra steps taken to secure them can help.

Last night, Officer Diaz was conducting patrol checks of closed businesses along W. Cleveland Avenue when he observed Jared Roark loitering behind one of the businesses. After contacting Roarke and conducting an investigation, Officer Diaz discovered that he had an outstanding felony warrant related to prior theft charges. Roark was subsequently arrested and booked into the Madera County Jail on the warrant.

This incident is another example of our officers' continued commitment to protecting our community, safeguarding local businesses, and maintaining the safety and security of our city
