Madawaska Police Department

Madawaska Police Department The Madawaska Police Department has ten (10) full-time and part-time officers. Our department covers an area of roughly 56 square miles.

Officers provide law enforcement services to a population of approximately 3,700 people on a 24-hour basis. Officers in the Patrol Division respond to calls for service requests throughout the community's residential and business districts. Officers also patrol hundreds of miles of urban and rural roads to proactively deter criminal activity and violations of law. Officers actively investigate all crimes, and suspicious activity that may lead to a crime, within our community. Our agency works cooperatively with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) in efforts to address the continuing infiltration of illegal drugs. We also are working closely with School Administration. Our agency strives to keep school safety at the forefront of our efforts. All officers work within the community policing philosophy to keep our community safe and take appropriate enforcement action when violations of law occur. The personnel of the Madawaska Police Department, both sworn and civilian, are proud to be a part of one the finest police departments in Maine. Each and every one of our members play an integral part in the success of our department. Our most important goal is to ensure the safety and well-being of the citizens of Madawaska.

On September 11, 2001, our nation experienced a tragedy that altered the fabric of our country forever. As we pause today to honor and remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, we also reflect on the enduring spirit that carried us through our darkest hours.

In the aftermath of that painful day, Americans set aside differences to stand shoulder to shoulder with unprecedented unity, compassion and strength. Neighbors supported neighbors, communities rallied, and a sense of shared purpose echoed across every city and town in America.

Today, as we look back on that solemn day, we hold onto the hope that we can once again revive that same spirit, remembering what it truly means to come together as one nation and support one another as fellow Americans.

Our officers remain committed to serving and protecting our community. We will never forget the lives lost, the heroes who sacrificed everything or the strength we find when we stand together.

A few weeks ago, the Acadian Festival Committee held a fundraiser during the Acadian Festival family fun day. If you remember, people had a great time dunking 1st Responders. Tonight, at Music in the Park, the committee presented Officer Boucher with a check in the amount of $850 for the donations they raised. All donations will fund the Shop with a 1st Responder program. Thank you very much to the Acadian Festival for raising the money and donating it to the program. Next year, Danielle Hebert volunteered to be dunked!!! And btw, Officer Boucher isn’t really 8 feet tall even though he sure looks like it in this photo!

Today, members of the Madawaska Police Department and U.S. Customs and Border Protection joined forces for intensive active shooter response training.

Because the safety of our schools, students, and staff is paramount, our top priority is ensuring we are fully prepared for the unthinkable.

Today’s exercise focused on advanced tactics, including room and hallway clearing, rapid approach, and neutralizing threats. To make the scenario as realistic as possible, role-players and live simunitions were utilized.

A special thank you to CBP Instructors Gagnon and Albert for leading this vital session, and to the Madawaska School Department for providing a wing of the High School to accommodate this training.

~Stronger together for a safer community.
