🐶 Look who came to visit us at Washington Memorial Library!

Author A.J. Symon stopped by yesterday to discuss his debut novel, Golden Boy, with the help of his service dog, Bubba!

Inspired by Symon’s real-life dogs, Golden Boy is a YA novel about a girl whose obsession with science leads her to accidentally transform her golden retriever, Hudson, into a human. The story takes place in a small southern town much like the author’s home of Barnesville, Georgia.

Symon read a passage from his book during the visit, then answered questions and signed copies of Golden Boy for patrons. He also gifted a signed copy to our collection at Washington Memorial Library!

We are always grateful for the opportunity to highlight local authors and appreciate Symon and Bubba for visiting. You can follow them at Golden Boy and Friends!

This book is for readers grades 7 and up, and is available for checkout at any of our library branches.

Are you a member of a club or social group? If so, you may be helping preserve democracy without even realizing it!

You can learn about how community connections are central to American civic society with our free screening of the documentary, Join or Die, co-presented with Bibb Community Partnership.

This film is based on the research of Robert Putnam, author of Bowling Alone, and explores how America’s future depends on social organizations and clubs.

Join us at the Macon Mall’s meeting space next Tuesday at 5:30 PM for a community discussion followed by the screening of Join or Die at 6:00 PM. This event is recommended for viewers 18+.
