Each year MMU performs a free chlorine flush, this helps to clean out sediment, mineral buildup and disinfect our water mains. During the first few days of this process fire hydrants around town are flushed to help distribute the free chlorine.

Do not be concerned if you see employees spraying water from hydrants this week during business hours. If you have any questions please call us at 660-385-3173.

MMU facilities will be closed to the public Monday, September 7 in observance of Labor Day.

At 10:14 am this morning our electric supplier, Northeast Power, had a failure in one of their substations that killed power coming into Macon from the east toward Hannibal. MMU power plant operators and linemen began switching operations throughout town. By 10:56 am, all circuits were restored and all customers had power.

Macon Utilities would like to thank everyone who used Hometown Grid to report their outages. This new technology has been an asset, information provided by customer reports gives power plant operators and linemen real time details helping to resolving the problem quickly.
