You can support OMA through our store, membership, or donations. OMNHP is a prehistoric American Indian site. American Indians first came here during the Paleo-Indian period hunting Ice Age mammals. Many different American Indian cultures occupied this land for thousands o

f years. Around 900 CE, the Mississippian Period began. They constructed mounds for their elite, which remain today.

ONE WEEK UNTIL THE 34TH Ocmulgee Indigenous Celebration!

We’re just 1 week away from one of Middle Georgia’s favorite cultural celebrations!

Join us September 12–13, 10 AM–5 PM at Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park for a weekend celebrating the rich cultures, traditions, art, music, and stories of Southeastern Native peoples.

-30+ artists featuring traditional and contemporary art
-Hands-on collaborative mobile mural project
-Cultural demonstrators and traditional crafts
-Traditional cultural dance demonstrations
-Tiger film showing in the theater
-Music, food, activities & more!

Today is National Non-Profit Day, and we’re proud to be the official nonprofit partner of Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park.

Since 1942, Ocmulgee Mounds Association (OMA) has supported the park through education, cultural programming, preservation, community partnerships, and visitor services. We work to protect Ocmulgee's remarkable history and resources while creating opportunities for people to learn, connect, and celebrate the Indigenous cultures and stories of this special place.
