"Lizzie's Likings"- "When I was a boy," said a very prosy long-winded orator to his friend, " I used to talk in my sleep." " And now" said his friend, "you sleep in your talk." But somehow that didn't seem to be just exactly the point the orator was going to make. :)

"Lizzie's Likings" - No thought, no word, no act of man ever dies. They are immortal as his own soul. He will be sure to find them again somewhere. Somewhere in this world he will meet their fruits in part: somewhere in the future life he will meet their gathered harvests. It may, and it may not, be a pleasant one to look upon.

"Lizzie's Likings" - "Despair was never yet so deep, In sinking as in seeming: Despair is hope but fallen asleep, For better chances of dreaming."

"Lizzie's Likings" - SMART "Now tell me, colonel, how do you feel when you've killed a man?" "Oh, very well, thank you, doctor; how do you?"

"Lizzie's Likings" - THE JACKET OF GRAY - Fold it up carefully, lay it aside, tenderly touch it, look on it with pride - For dear to our hearts must it be evermore, The jacket of gray our loved soldier wore. by Mrs. C. A. Ball

"Lizzie's Likings" - "Jim, have you seen John's wife?" "Yes, I've seen her." "Is she as thin as the boys say she is?" "I should say so. She looks like a string of buttons."
