Our “Aim High in August” Attendance Challenge was a success! We finished with an incredible 96% Average Daily Attendance (ADA)! Congratulations to 2nd Grade and 4th Grade for earning the Stallion Spirit Stick for having the greatest ADAs! But there’s more… 341 students in Grades PK–5 had PERFECT ATTENDANCE in August! But there's even more to celebrate... (and this one makes us especially proud)... 42 of those students with perfect attendance were identified as chronically absent last school year! That’s progress. That’s determination. That’s what happens when our Stallions choose to Show Up! Stay tuned...

Our Kindergarten Stallions are proving that big goals can be achieved by our littlest learners! Last week, these shining stars met their Amira reading goals and earned a special opportunity to appear on the Stallion Morning News! During our Midweek Checkpoint, they inspired students across Southfield to stay focused, work hard, and reach their own weekly goals. We are incredibly proud of King, Italy, and Jha'taivea for showing what it means to lead by example!

Today, we held our Stallion Attendance Academy, and we are extremely proud of this amazing group! These students made the choice to SHOW UP and STEP UP by spending part of their Saturday recovering missed learning opportunities due to absences in August. We enjoyed listening to them share habits and routines that will help improve their daily attendance. We ended our session with them making a commitment to being at school on time, for the full day, every day! Thank you families for partnering with us so that students can take ownership of their attendance, their learning, and their success. We appreciate our teachers - Mrs. Henley, Ms. Riggins, Ms. Rucker, and Ms. Smith for their presence and support with learning. Overall, it was a SENSATIONAL SATURDAY IN THE FIELD and we are on our way to reducing chronic absenteeism by 14%!

Today, the halls of Southfield erupted with cheers, applause, and Stallion Pride as we celebrated our 2026-2027 Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Breana Gay! With students lining the hallways, staff beaming with pride, and excitement filling every corner of the building, Mrs. Gay took her well-deserved Walk of Fame, and what a moment it was! If you know Mrs. Gay, then you know she embodies everything that makes Southfield special. As our STEM Teacher, she inspires curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, and innovation in our students. As our House System Coordinator, she helps create the culture, connections, friendly competition, and sense of belonging that makes Southfield feel like family. She serves on numerous teams and committees and gives her all to every role with enthusiasm, dedication, leadership, and an infectious smile. Mrs. Gay is the kind of educator who goes above and beyond, not because she has to, but because that's who she is. Her impact extends far beyond the classroom, touching the lives of students, families, and colleagues. It was our honor to celebrate a remarkable teacher leader who is deeply respected, genuinely appreciated, and wholeheartedly loved. This recognition is a reflection of the countless ways she has helped Southfield grow, shine, and succeed. Congratulations, Mrs. Gay! We are incredibly proud to call you our 2026-2027 Teacher of the Year!

If smiles burned calories, then we definitely got a great workout tonight! Family Game Night was a total WIN! From intense game faces and friendly rivalries to high-fives, and a few "I want a rematch!" moments, we had a wonderful time. We loved seeing our students challenge their families, our families challenge each other, and everyone creating memories that were worth more than any winning score. A huge thank you to everyone who came out and made the night such a success. Special shoutout to Mr. Brown, one of our Stallion Fathers, who donated neck pillows to our school for students. They were a hit! Tonight proved that when the Southfield family gets together, the real wins are the connections we build along the way.
