Illinois doesn’t need another politician who will simply go along with the status quo. Illinois needs a voice willing to stand up, speak the truth, and fight for the people who call this state home.

For too long, families, farmers, small businesses, law enforcement, and working people have watched Springfield spend more, raise taxes, and make decisions that put government ahead of the people it is supposed to serve.

I’m running because I believe Illinois can do better.

I will be a voice for fiscal responsibility, lower taxes, safer communities, strong schools, our farmers, our families, and the constitutional rights of every Illinoisan. I won’t be afraid to ask the hard questions, challenge the status quo, or stand up to the political establishment when it means doing what is right.

I have spent my career serving my community, and I’m ready to take that commitment to Springfield.

Illinois deserves a voice that listens. A voice that leads. A voice that won’t back down.

CEJA isn’t just about closing power plants and putting Illinois workers out of a job. It also raises a serious question about who gets to decide what happens in our own communities.

State law has taken significant authority away from local governments by restricting counties’ ability to regulate commercial wind and solar projects. Under Illinois law, counties cannot simply prohibit these facilities in areas zoned for agriculture or industry, and a qualifying project must be approved when it meets the state’s requirements and the county’s compliant zoning standards.

Public Act 102-1123, signed January 2023, standardizes county-level zoning and permitting regulations for commercial wind and solar energy facilities. It explicitly bans counties from enacting total prohibitions or moratoriums on renewable energy projects and caps local restrictions so they cannot be more restrictive than state standards.

That means decisions that can fundamentally change the character of rural communities are increasingly being dictated from Springfield rather than by the people who live there.
And when a county denies a project, developers have avenues to challenge that decision in court. In 2026, Illinois appellate litigation over solar projects in Winnebago County demonstrated that these local siting decisions can become costly legal battles.
Developers actually sued Winnebago County after the county denied two solar applications. The developers sought court orders requiring the county to approve the projects. However, the Illinois Appellate Court for the Fourth District affirmed the dismissal of the developers' lawsuit, ruling that counties retain local discretion in solar siting and courts cannot use mandamus to force permit approvals.

As your Senator for District 36, I will stand to protect communities' voices against big corporations in solar and wind.
