Just a heads up! Stay weather aware.

We have had inquiries in reference to tornado sirens. We want to inform everyone that all of our sirens are fully operational. Annual siren maintenance was completed in February 2026.

We test the sirens every Saturday at noon. However, if there is a chance of inclement weather or overcast conditions, we will conduct a silent test instead. We also receive weekly status reports on all sirens owned by Pottawatomie County and operated by our office.

Reminder: Outdoor warning sirens are designed to alert and inform individuals who are outdoors. They should not be relied upon as your only method of receiving severe weather warnings. Please ensure you have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, especially while sleeping.
