Last night, the MTFD said goodbye to Cptn. David Koss after serving the residents of Macomb Township for 46 years. Captain Koss's tenure with the MTFD is marked by his dedication to our community along with his mentorship and friendship to all our MTFD firefighters. We wish him the absolute best as begins this new chapter and thank him for nearly half a century of service to Macomb Township.

What an incredible showing, Macomb Township!

I am proud to share that 22,512 voters participated in the August 2026 State Primary across our three voting options:

Early Voting: 1,419 voters
Absentee Ballots: 13,459 voters
Election Day: 7,634 voters

Every ballot represents a resident taking part in our democratic process, and I am grateful to everyone who made their Vote Count!

I also want to extend a sincere thank you to our election workers and staff who worked tirelessly before, during, and after Election Day to make sure Macomb Township voters were served professionally, efficiently, and securely. It takes a tremendous team effort to conduct an election, and I could not be more appreciative of everyone who played a part.

Thank you, Macomb Township β€” 22,512 voters strong! β€οΈπŸ€πŸ’™

β€” Kristi Pozzi, Macomb Township Clerk

The current Air Quality Alert has been extended for tomorrow (July 16) in southeast Michigan! Tomorrow's levels are expected to reach Unhealthy (AQI Red) in our area.

Avoid strenuous outdoor activities when possible, especially those with heart disease and/or respiratory diseases such as asthma. Keep an eye on your family and friends by monitoring for wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat and/or eyes.

Helpful Tips from SEMCOG, Southeast Michigan Council of Governments:
- Keep windows closed overnight to prevent smoke from getting indoors.
- If possible, run central air conditioning with MERV-13 or higher rated filters.
- Reduce or eliminate activities that contribute to air pollution such as outdoor burning or use of residential wood burning devices.
- Check your local air quality at www.airnow.gov
