Love & Family.

AJ, I am beyond proud of you. I am grateful that I was able to play a small part in your journey and capture this special moment.

The bond between a parent and their child is one of the most powerful things in the world. I see it every day in the families of this program. The passion, love, and care that you all show for your kids continually inspires me. I know it isn’t always easy, but I want you to know that I do my very best each day to help create more moments like this one.

I may not have children of my own, but I see all Dakota Choirs students, past, present and future, as my kiddos. I want nothing more than for each of you to find your moment with your people. One where there is pride in their eyes, excitement on their faces, and love in their hearts.

Congratulations to AJ Denomme and Salvatore Vitale on their outstanding performances at the 14th Annual Sutton Foster Awards!
A special congratulations to AJ Denomme, who was named the Male Winner of the Sutton Foster Awards and will move on as a Jimmy Awards nominee. His solo performance was exceptional, and it was incredible to see him bring Carl Hanratty back to life during the character medley.
We also celebrate Salvatore Vitale for his remarkable stage presence, energy, and talent. Whether singing or dancing, Sal delivered an unforgettable performance that showcased his versatility and dedication.
Dakota High School was also honored as one of only nine schools to receive recognition in all six achievement categories: Scenic Design, Lighting Design, Costume Design, Choreography, Music Direction, and Direction. We are incredibly grateful for this distinction and extend our sincere thanks to our staff, students, parents, and the entire Dakota community for making this achievement possible.
Finally, congratulations to Carson Colby and Amanda Meyerhoff of Chippewa Valley for their fantastic performances and representation at this year’s awards.
We could not be prouder of all these talented performers and the outstanding work being done across our theatre community.

Dakota High School Choir Senior Spotlight🎶

Introducing Salvatore Vitale!

Salvatore Vitale is a senior at Dakota High School and has been in choir since 6th grade. This year, he is more involved than ever, being a part of Dakota’s Mixed Varsity Choir, Men’s Chorus, and is doing an independent study with Mr. Dargis is Women’s Varsity Choir. For extracurriculars, Sal co-runs the Men’s A Ca****la, is the Student Director of Show Choir, and has been a part of many Dakota Productions such as Newsies, Catch Me If You Can, and Into the Woods. After graduation, Sal plans to attend Michigan State University to pursue a major in Environmental Engineering, and hopes to keep music in his life through community theatre and joining one of MSU’s prestigious A Ca****la groups. Sal would like to thank his friends, family, teachers, and everyone who has been by his side for his high school journey!

Dakota High School Choir Senior Spotlight🎶

Introducing Alexis Merrill!

Alexis Merrill is a senior at Dakota High School and has been in choir since 6th grade. This year, she is very proud to be a member of Mixed Varsity, Women's Varsity, Show Choir, and Dolce Diamonds. Alexis also serves as a Vice President of Marketing and Communications and as a Dance Captain. Outside of choir, she is involved in Magic Company, Animal Welfare Workers, and the Spanish National Honor Society. Alexis also just finished her first musical at Dakota, Into The Woods, playing The Giant, The Granny, and Cinderella's Mother! She was also the Student Director for the production! Music has been a constant passion throughout her life, and she is incredibly grateful for the opportunities Dakota’s choir program has provided her over the years. After graduation, Alexis plans to attend Macomb Community College, where she will major in Pre-Vet Medicine. At Macomb, she will continue performing by being in the only collegiate Show Choir in Michigan, The Macombers! She also has the incredible opportunity to be the Dance Captain for the group next year! Alexis is forever thankful to Mr. Dargis and Mr. Boni for their guidance, encouragement, and continued support, as well as to her family and friends for always supporting what she loves to do. She hopes to see you at the Spring Spectacular where her and the other seniors will take their final bow on the Dakota High School stage!

Dakota High School Choir Senior Spotlight🎶

Introducing Caitlin Petrik!

Caitlin Petrik is a senior at Dakota High School and she has been performing in choir since 6th grade. She is currently a part of Mixed Varsity Choir. Outside of choir she is a part of a competition dance team, and also various clubs such as NHS, NEHS, SNHS, Key Club, and Animal Welfare Workers. After graduation Caitlin plans to major in Psychology at Michigan State University and possibly minor in Child Development. Overall, Caitlin is incredibly grateful for all of the opportunities that the choir program has offered her, and will always cherish these special experiences!

Dakota High School Choir Senior Spotlight🎶

Introducing Logan Tamplin!

Logan Tamplin is a senior at Dakota High School and an early college student at Macomb Community College. He has been in choir since 6th grade. This year, he is a proud member of the Mixed Varsity Choir and Men’s A Ca****la . Previously, he has been a part of Show Choir and a few of Dakota’s musicals. Outside of choir, he is a track and field captain. He very much loves running and everything there is about track and running hurdles. Also, he is a member of the High School Show Choir at Macomb called Magic Company. Being a part of the Dakota musicals was a big part of Logan’s life. He is proud to have acted and sang as Pulitzer in last year’s production of Newsies at Dakota. After graduation, Logan will be finishing a degree at Macomb community college next year. After, he plans to major in Media communications at Lawrence tech university. He is grateful for all the time spent and memories made in the choir program at Dakota. He would like to thank Mr. Dargis and Mr. Boni for their support. Lastly, he would like to thank his family for always showing up for him and encouraging and guiding him in everything he does on and off the stage. He hopes you come see the Spring Spectacular!
