📣 Community Update – Beggar’s Night Date Correction 🎃

We wanted to let everyone know that the date listed in The Shopper for Macksburg’s Beggar’s Night is not correct.

Our Beggar’s Night was held on Saturday, October 25th.

We’ve already notified The Shopper that the second date published was in error. Thank you to everyone who came out and made it a fun and safe evening for our kids! 👻🍬

‼️Drinking Water Advisory for residents of Macksburg and Lorimor in Madison County. ‼️

The Southern Iowa Rural Water Association (SIRWA) distribution system North of Afton, Lorimor, Thayer and surrounding areas experienced issues Thursday evening. If your account number starts with numbers 55, 03, 63 or 64 you are included in this notice.

As a precaution, SIRWA has issued a Drinking Water Advisory at this time. This affects both
Macksburg and Lorimor residents in Madison County. The advisory is expected to expire Tuesday next week.

Our agency has dropped off cases of drinking water to Macksburg City Hall @ 106 W. North Street for affected residents as a central hub to bring back to their homes. We are working to receive additional cases later this afternoon.

The City Clerk just spoke to SIRWA and the City of Macksburg is under a Drinking Water Advisory they advised probably Tuesday but would phone when it was lifted.

Our distribution system North of Afton, Lorimor, Thayer and surrounding areas experienced issues Thursday evening. If your account number starts with numbers 55, 03 or 64 you are included in this notice.

As a precaution, we are issuing a Drinking Water Advisory at this time. The Southern Iowa Rural Water Association (SIRWA) Water Supply is recommending to boil the water before using for drinking.

Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. The water may be used for bathing and other similar purposes.

We are hopeful to have the Drinking Water Advisory lifted by the beginning of the week. Repairs were completed early this morning and we will begin collecting bacterial samples to make sure the water is safe. You can check back here for any further updates.

Ragbrai is coming to Macksburg on July 23rd. The Macksburg Ragbrai committee will meet every Thursday at 6 pm at the Macksburg City Hall. First meeting is Thursday, April 25th. All public is welcome and invited to attend.
