The Village of Mackinaw City is now offering a lateral $5,000 signing bonus for the Full-Time Police Officer position.

Is there an Officer you know that is looking for a change in scenery? There is no better place to work than in the tip of the Mitten! Apply to the Village of Mackinaw City Police Department today!

05/12/2026

The Mackinaw City Police Department would like to remind the Downtown businesses on Central Avenue to get employee parking permits for the 2026 season. Businesses can either gain permits for all of their employees at once, or individual employees can recieve a permit with the business's consent.

The permit parking areas are designated for you and your employees. While enforcement always occurs on signed parking areas, a designated parking officer will be starting this week and will be monitoring the 3-hour parking limit along with all the other parking areas in a consistent manner. Please remind your employees that the parking permit does not allow them to park in the 3-hour limit areas.

For businesses with private parking, please don’t hesitate to call Village Hall if you should see a vehicle parked on your property for an extended period of time without permission.

As a reminder, parking enforcement occurs to minimize congestion, to ensure there is enough turnover for our businesses, and to keep our downtown open and user-friendly for tourists and residents alike.

Parking for commercial reasons, including visiting the island, shopping downtown, or employee parking, is not permitted along residential streets.

Memorial Day weekend is just around the corner and that means summer is here. We welcome our visitors and guests to Mackinaw City, and encourage them to have a plan for parking if leaving their vehicle for an extended period of time, such as parking at the hotel you are staying at, or utilizing the ample ferry boat parking. Have a great summer and please be safe out there.

📣 Attention Local Businesses!

The Village of Mackinaw City wants to make sure our entrepreneurs, shop owners, and small business leaders know about valuable resources available through the Small Business Administration (SBA).

✔️ Low-interest loan programs to support expansion, equipment, and operating costs
✔️ Free and low-cost consulting services from experienced advisors

We encourage all local businesses to explore these opportunities and take advantage of the support available to you.
