Happy Labor Day Weekend!

As Mackinaw City prepares to accommodate the Bridge Walk, we urge visitors to remember that streets, municipal parking lots, parks, and grassy right-of-way areas are not permitted locations for overnight and RV parking (unless marked otherwise). We encourage all walkers to find locations at private parking lots offering overnight services, or to find lodging at hotels, motels, inns, and campgrounds. Parking enforcement is active to ensure enough parking supply for all visitors, shoppers, and downtown employees, and to ensure hydrants and sidewalks are unblocked and landscaping and parks are undamaged.

Overtime parking (3 hour parking areas downtown) will not be enforced during the Bridge Walk and the daylight hours after, so enjoy the views and all that Mackinaw City has to offer. Have a relaxing and enjoyable Labor Day weekend!

UPDATE: The Boil Water Notice was lifted and residents presented the "All Clear" fliers. Thank you for your patience!

An official Boil Water Notice has been given to the units at the Shores at Mackinaw. Boil water notices are issued when a loss in water pressure increases the odds of coliform bacteria contamination.

Affected users should not drink water without first boiling it for one minute, and letting it cool. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and food preparation until further notice.

After the system is fully repaired, the Village will collect bacteriological samples from the affected water supply. When water quality data displays no bacteria and meets the state drinking water standards, the Village will rescind the Boil Water Notice. Customers will be advised when this Notice is lifted.

As a reminder, this update only applies the water customers that recieved this notice. Water supply for those outside of the Shores at Mackinaw continues to meet drinking water standards and is not impacted by the water main repairs. We appreciate your attention and patience as the Village performs this repair.

August 19, 2026, 9:15 am: Water service to the Shores at Mackinaw has been temporarily paused as the Village performs repairs to the main. This is expected to last a number of hours, after which a boil water notice will be issued once the water system turns back on. Please continue to follow this page for updates, listen to the reps at the Shores, who we have been in communication with, or read the postings left at the affected units.

As a reminder, this is only affecting water customers at the Shores of Mackinaw as repairs occur; all other locations in the Village have uninterrupted service.

Please note, a water main break along US-23 was detected and is being addressed by Village staff and contractors. This will likely result in a lane closure and repair work through tomorrow. While not active at this time, a boil water advisory may be issued for water customers at the Shores at Mackinaw. More information will be relayed tomorrow, August 19th. We appreciate your patience as we bring the system back to its operational and safe state.

8/17/2026 1:30pm UPDATE: Milling will begin tomorrow (August 18th) with paving to occur Wednesday and Thursday (August 19th & 20th). North Perrot work will be moved to mid-September to better synergize with the Lakeside Drive reconstruction.

FARLEY STREET - 1,195 ft Overlay
NORTH PERROT STREET - Central to Lakeside 465 ft Overlay
EAST SINCLAIR STREET - Nicolet to Ducharme 600 ft Overlay
WEST SINCLAIR STREET / BOSTWICK STREET - 200 ft Overlay

Milling will begin tomorrow, Saturday August 15th.

Paving is expected to occur Tuesday, August 18th.

While we ask the public to limit unnessecary travel along these streets post-milling, the streets will be available for through-access for those that live along them. There may be short periods in which the roads are inaccessible, largely when equipment is moving on them, and for a few hours post-paving for curing.

The Village will be preparing an application for up to 15 grant-funded street trees!

We are accepting suggestions from the public on locations. Feel free to request one on the street outside of your house or on a street that you feel appears bare.

Trees utilized will be Red Maples (no powerlines above) or Ivory Silk Lilacs (when under powerlines).

Not all locations may be selected, depending on number of requests, utilities present, proximity of other street trees, and other possible factors. It is likewise not guaranteed that Mackinaw City will be selected for this grant program.

Please send Street Tree Requests by email to [email protected] (please label the subject 2026 Street Tree Request), by phone to 231-436-5351, or drop off a note in person to Village Hall at 102 S. Huron Avenue.
