School is back in session! Watch out for excited children going to school, and possibly not fully paying attention when crossing roads, getting on and off the bus, and those that walk to and from school. And never pass a stopped school bus with RED Flashing lights!

Daytime Planned Outages Thursday, August 27th
On Thursday, August 27 there will be 2 short outages affecting Co-op members on Route 1 South out of Calais, including Robbinston, Perry, and parts of Charlotte. The Co-op must cut power to a couple sections of line on route 1 to accommodate a Maine DOT culvert replacement. Ordinally this would require an outage lasting several hours, but the linemen are going to do some switching to keep power on to most of those affected.

The first outage is expected around 9:00 am and the second will occur later in the day. Between these outage members are asked to limit energy use to help maintain reliable service.

We have received reports of fraudsters calling customers to verify phony transactions in an attempt to gain access to online banking information.

These calls may appear to come from Machias Savings Bank employees, as fraudsters are spoofing Bank employee phone numbers.

Please remember: We will never ask for your login credentials, one-time passcodes, or remote access to your device.

The Downeast Sunrise Trail Relay Race ‘26 has 400 runners on the trail TODAY Friday July 24th evening, overnight, and continuing into tomorrow, Saturday July 25th, between Washington Junction (Hancock) and Eastport. Please yield to the runners at trail crossings if driving and please be mindful if you’re also recreationally on the trail. Runners will be crossing highways all through the evening to early mornings. Keep an eye out at road crossings where ATV's cross daily for these runners!

Good Morning,

The region will receive needed rainfall from tonight into Wednesday night, with Downeast and the Bangor Region getting 3/4 to 1 1/2 inches of rain with 1/3 to 3/4 inch of rain elsewhere. Locally higher amounts are possible.
This could cause minor flooding of urban and known poor drainage areas.

There is also a chance for strong to possibly severe thunderstorms across the entire area Wednesday afternoon/evening with the main threat strong to damaging wind gusts.

At the Atlantic/Gulf of Maine Beaches, there is a moderate to high risk for dangerous rip currents, sneaker wavs, and a high and pounding surf Wednesday and Wednesday night.
