โ ๏ธ Lithium-Ion Battery Safety Reminder โ ๏ธ
As shown in the attached video, fires involving lithium-ion batteries can escalate rapidly and become extremely dangerous. To help prevent these incidents:
๐ Do not leave batteries charging unattended.
๐ Do not charge batteries that show signs of damage.
๐ Follow manufacturer charging recommendations.
๐ Store batteries in a cool, dry location away from combustible materials.
๐จ Important: Never attempt to extinguish a lithium-ion battery fire yourself. While we commend the neighbors who stepped in and tried to help, water can be dangerous when applied to lithium-ion battery fires. As demonstrated in the video, applying water improperly can worsen the situation and place you at serious risk. If a battery begins smoking, overheating, or catches fire, evacuate the area immediately and call 911.
Your safety is our priority. Please take a moment to inspect your batteries and charging practices to help prevent a fire before it starts.
