The Macedonia Senior Center’s Medicare 101 presentation can help you understand the basics of Medicare health plans. The next presentation is Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 6:30 p.m., led by licensed and certified agent Justin Kazmierczak of KAZ Company.

This free presentation is helpful for those turning 65, current Medicare-eligible adults, caregivers, or anyone transitioning from an employer health plan to Medicare.

Twenty-five years later, we pause to remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, as well as the first responders and all those whose lives were forever changed by that tragic day.

This morning, Macedonia firefighters, police officers, dispatchers and city employees gathered outside City Hall, where a steel beam that once supported the Twin Towers stands as a lasting reminder of the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives and the resilience that followed.

Pastor Josh Elliott of the United Methodist Church of Macedonia led us in prayer as we remembered those we lost and reflected on the enduring importance of unity, compassion and service.

Congratulations to Dahl House Boarding Kennel, the City of Macedonia’s September Business of the Month!

Mayor Nick Molnar recently presented the award to owners Ted and Denise Holzheimer, who have owned Dahl House for the past five years after decades of working at both the Macedonia Veterinary Clinic and Dahl House.

The Mayor sat down with Denise to learn more about the business and the services it provides, including pet boarding, daycare and grooming.

Happy 100th birthday to Alice Furmanek, a resident at Summit Corners in Macedonia. She was born on Sept. 6, 1926, in the Cleveland area and used to sew uniforms for the military.

Mayor Nick Molnar visited her today to present her with a birthday card, flowers, and a commemorative coin on behalf of the City of Macedonia.

Please join us in wishing Alice a very happy 100th birthday and celebrating this incredible milestone!

Our Macedonia Senior Center is more than a place to gather — it’s a place to connect, stay active and enjoy life!

So far this year, the Senior Center has served nearly 500 adults age 60+ throughout the Nordonia Hills community, offering more than two dozen programs, activities and events — from fitness classes and book clubs to bingo and more. And they’re always looking for new ways to engage our seniors!

Senior Bus Trips offer 16–18 excursions each quarter, while social lunches are held twice a week at the Macedonia City Center. Home-delivered lunches are also available to help ensure seniors have access to nutritious meals at home.
