Defenders conducted close quarters battle (CQB) training at the Combat Arms Training & Maintenance "Shoot House" on MacDill Air Force Base over the May UTA. Yesterday, I testified before the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense on the Air Force Reserve FY27 budget. My message was clear: the Air Force Reserve is a strategic, cost‑effective force delivering global readiness.

Our Reserve Airmen proved that readiness by deploying within 72 hours in support of Operation Epic Fury. To remain Ready Now while Transforming for the Future, I emphasized the need for continued support in three critical areas:

• Proportional investment in weapon systems
• Meaningful duty status reform
• Improved medical care, including TRS access and higher dental caps

Taking care of our Airmen directly drives retention and ensures the Air Force Reserve remains a lethal, accessible force for the nation. I was proud to advocate for and represent our Reserve Airmen today.
