Today, we honor the memory of those who served their country, dedicating their lives to the pursuit of freedom.

As we conclude EMS Week, we also acknowledge our local EMS personnel. We have enjoyed celebrating this year in recognition of the dedication and hard work of our EMS team.
Several of these dedicated individuals have also served in the armed forces, and we would like to express our appreciation for their service.

Our EMS crew recently had a well-deserved break on Fish Fry Friday, enjoying a moment of fellowship. It's uncommon for them to have a meal without being called away, so we seized the chance to thank them for their hard work. The event was a success, with everyone relishing the chance to sit, talk, laugh, and enjoy good food.

In 1974, President Gerald Ford authorized EMS Week™ to celebrate EMS professionals and the important work they do in our nation's communities. National Emergency Medical Services Week brings together local communities and medical personnel to honor the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine's frontline.
Being able to recognize and celebrate our amazing Paramedics and EMT's every year is an honor; this year we will do just that.
If you come across one of Baker County Fire Rescues men and women take a minute to tell them THANK YOU! They work tirelessly in the background training daily and being prepared to save our lives 24/7, 365 days of the year and we appreciate them.

A heartfelt plea from Chief Nelson:
Baker County, please stop burning yard waste and trash, even in a burn barrel. It is not safe. It is too dry, drought index is over 650.
Today, your County Firefighters were called out to someone burning their trash because “their car was broke and couldn’t get to the dump”.
Please, phone a friend, or let it pile up. But burning it, is the wrong plan. This fire, although small, put in danger, several mobile homes which are positioned within what we call the WUI or Wildland Urban Interface, where homes are built or placed close to the wood lines. This fire had potential to destroy these three homes, if not for a favorable wind and quick action of your Fire Rescue Department.
Let’s keep a catastrophic fire from happening here!
