POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION: DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR STATUS: REG/HOURLY
FULL TIME/PART TIME
Organization: The Arc North Florida, Inc. is a private 501 (c)(3) non-profit agency serving people with disabilities in Suwannee, Hamilton, Lafayette and Baker Counties. We offer advocacy and quality programs that provide training and learning opportunities in the areas of daily living and employment skills for individuals with a developmental disability as defined by the Agency for Persons with Disabilities. The list of disabilities, as defined by APD, currently includes downs syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, spina bifida and Prader -Willi syndrome.
Position: Development Coordinator
Job Description: The Development Coordinator will assist the Executive Director in growing the organization’s membership, raising funds, gaining community and support the administrative function. Specifically, the position will focus on the following areas (not all inclusive):
Public Relations, Administrative Support & Communications-
a. Update the website and develop new communications tools with the Administrative Director to enhance the organization’s image and visibility in the community.
b. Develop and manage various forms of electronic media including Facebook and Twitter to promote advocacy and community awareness along with fund raising opportunities for current and future activities.
c. Develop and produce a quarterly newsletter which shares information with members concerning The Arc client activities, events, promotions with an emphasis on growing membership and financial support for the organization.
d. Coordinate fund raising events in the communities served that will promote the work done by the agency. Develop a coordinated plan of action that will promote increased community participation through collaborative work with social groups (churches, youth programs and fraternal organizations).
e. Manage the GiftWorks (or other database software) program and produce accurate data that will allow The Arc to determine growth strategies to increase membership.
f. Distribute press releases on major activities and significant program events to educate the community on The Arc activities which promote the needs and abilities of people with disabilities.
g. Establish a grant database and write for grants that are needed for the agency.
Resource Development
a. Assist with the development and cultivation of donors.
b. Research and develop proposal ideas with Executive Director.
Support for Board Development
Assist with the coordination and support of the committee functions as needed.
Event Organization
a. Help plan, organize and implement fundraising activities
b. Recruit and train volunteers to support events
c. Provide necessary follow-up after the events
Office Support
a. Maintain databases and provide general office support as needed.
Other job duties as required
Qualifications:
a. High School graduation or GED required, Bachelor’s Degree or better preferred.
b. Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Publisher, Power Point).
c. Experience in the use of web development software to manage company website.
d. Donor database familiarity with GiftWorks or similar program.
e. Excellent writing, verbal and inter-personal communication skills
f. Able to prepare and present effective presentations to community groups.
g. Must be highly organized, a self-starter, detail-oriented, strong “team player” and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously from conception to finish.
h. Ability to travel overnight approximately four times per year with occasional evening/weekend commitments required.
i. Position is full time or part time and reports directly to the Administrative Director.
