It should be done every month, but on Women's History Month I wanted to highlight a pillar in Mableton, South Cobb, and Cobb County as a whole.

Betty Gray was a teacher, counselor, school principal, and school board member in her decades long career in Cobb County. Her influence was so great that that Pebblebrook High School established the Betty Gray Enrichment Center in her honor.

As your city council member for District 5, I will make sure the voices of women are central to Mableton City Council's decision-making

In honor of the last day of Black History Month, I just wanted to share this long but important piece of writing discussing the integration of Pebblebrook High School by Virginia Ward of Mableton, GA, in 1966.

I think as we stand in this election season, it is crucial that we have candidates ready and willing to tackle tough issues like race, class, and working together for our future.

Those who do not understand the history of this community and its meaning for our lives today are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past.

Stories like this propel me to do the work that this community needs, and I hope to be privileged to serve Mableton on the City Council.

Thank you to the Mableton Improvement Coalition and the Austell Community Task Force for inviting me to last night's candidate forum. And thank you to everyone who submitted questions and watched the forum live.

This picture was from me getting ready for the forum. I was nervous yet excited to hear questions directly from the voters and I look forward to listening to you more.

As your city council representative, I will do a lot of listening to all of Mableton, but especially District 5.

I know our residents hate seeing trash thrown on the side of the road. As you city council member, I will ensure Mableton has a proactive approach to solid waste management along with keeping our streets and parks beautiful.
