Dove Season Reminder: Help keep communities powered and connected, and fellow hunters safe, as you enjoy the hunt!

Power lines and fiber-optic cables often serve as roosting spots for doves. While it may seem like an easy shot, aiming near these lines comes with serious risks:

Costly Repairs: Gunfire can damage lines, leading to tens of thousands of dollars in repair costs.

Safety Risks: Damaged power lines may spark fires or pose electrocution hazards. Power and Internet Outages: Shots at utility lines can cause lengthy service interruptions.

Legal Consequences: Shooting at utility infrastructure is illegal and could result in heavy fines for the hunter.

By aiming responsibly away from utility lines this dove season, hunters can safely enjoy their favorite pastime while helping keep communities powered and connected.

Toombs County Schools Safety Update:
We are aware of a social media trend that originated in another state and is now being shared. The posts contain threatening language and mention several school districts in our area.
After a thorough investigation and consultation with law enforcement, there is no indication that these posts represent a credible threat. We will continue to work closely with law enforcement and remain vigilant in monitoring the safety of our students, staff, and community.

The Sheriff’s Office has received several complaints concerning telephone scams today. The Scammers are targeting friends and family of current Toombs County Detention Center inmates. During the call, the Scammer will use the name of an inmate and request money for various reasons involving the inmate. Just like law enforcement, our Detention Center staff will never call and request money for any reason. If you receive a call and the conversation begins with the above information, please disconnect the phone call immediately. IT IS A SCAM. Law enforcement and Detention Center staff will never call you by phone about a fine, warrant, or court appearance. Please like and share this post to help us reach as many people as possible. Additionally, please make family and friends aware of this information. Help us to keep someone from becoming a victim of these scams. Thank you.
