Meeting Regarding 2nd & 3rd Ave Improvements, including Safe Routes to School near the Lyons Elementary School. As a follow-up to the Board of Trustees’ August meeting, the Board will host a Town Hall-style open house to hear directly from residents about community infrastructure needs and priorities, including storm water improvements, sidewalks, streets, and other infrastructure concerns.

The open house is scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, beginning at 6 p.m at the Lyons Regional Library. Residents are encouraged to attend, ask questions, and share input.

Spend Saturday in Bohn Park and shop from 50+ local artisans, makers and crafters. The 6th Annual Fall Artisan Market runs from 10 a.m.–4 p.m.

The Board of Trustees is continuing its discussion about wildfire mitigation and resiliency in Lyons and is seeking additional community input. Residents are invited to complete a brief survey to share their perspectives and ideas.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife is reporting increased bear activity as drought conditions limit natural food sources. Help keep bears wild by securing trash and other food sources, and do not put trash out overnight.

The Board of Trustees plans a Town Hall style open house at 6:30 pm on Thursday, September 3rd, at the Lyons Regional Library. Beginning about 6:45 pm, Town staff, Lyons Fire District, and a representative of IBHS (Insurance Institute of Business and Home Safety) will share details about the Board's ongoing discussion for potential new wildfire resiliency requirements on residential property. The Board is interested in listening and learning from resident's perspectives on wildfire mitigation work on private property in Lyons

Community Update: PRV Work & Road Closure

As part of the current Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) work near Circle K, Town crews will be flushing a hydrant tomorrow, August 20. Residents in Lyons Valley Park and Stone Canyon may temporarily notice some discoloration or brown water.

Hydrant flushing can stir up naturally occurring minerals and sediment that settle in water lines, causing temporary discoloration. If you notice discolored water, run cold water from a faucet for several minutes until it runs clear. Avoid running hot water or doing laundry until the water is clear.

🚧 Road Closure: Railroad Avenue between Walt Self and 4th Avenue will also be closed tomorrow.

Town of Lyons Community Updates

🚧 Road Work Updates
Paving and asphalt patching continue around town through Aug. 25. CDOT will also begin installing traffic cameras along US 36 between Lyons and Estes Park in mid-August. Please allow extra time and use caution in work zones.

🚌 EcoPass and Transit Information for Lyons Residents
Lyons residents can use the MyRide app to access their EcoPass, providing free RTD bus and light rail service throughout the region. The Lyons Flyer also continues to provide free weekday service between Lyons and Boulder.

🩸 Community Blood Drive — Aug. 19
The next community blood drive will be held at the Lyons Regional Library from 10 a.m.–1:15 p.m. Appointments are available now.

🌲 Boulder County Hazard Mitigation Plan
Residents are also invited to provide feedback on projects and strategies that could help reduce risks from natural hazards.

There's a lot happening around town!

🚓 National Night Out is TONIGHT (Tuesday) at 6 p.m. in Bohn Park. Meet local first responders, enjoy free food, K9 and SWAT demonstrations, and connect with your neighbors.

🎶 Sandstone Summer Concert Series continues Wednesday with the Bonnie & Taylor Sims Band from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Sandstone Park.

🎨 Calling all artists! Applications for two new Lyons public mural projects are due August 5.

⚠️ McConnell Ponds: Please avoid contact with the water and keep dogs out due to a harmful algae bloom until further notice.

Work is getting underway this week as part of the Town of Lyons 2026 Pavement Improvement Projects. Please use caution around construction crews, expect occasional traffic delays, and follow all posted signs and flaggers.
