Let’s give a big Lynnwood welcome to our newest officers!

We are so proud to announce that Officers Kumar and Trudeau officially graduated from the WSCJTC Northwest Regional Campus yesterday. They have successfully completed this first major milestone and are now moving into a few weeks of post-academy training. Soon after, they will be hitting the ground running in our Field Training Officer (FTO) program.

We are excited to have them on the team. If you see them out and about, please be sure to say hello and make them feel at home!

On May 18, 2026, Lynnwood Police officers were dispatched to the parking lot of Ross following a report of a male unresponsive behind the wheel of a running vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers located a male in his 40s passed out in the driver’s seat of his truck. While investigating the scene, officers observed drug paraphernalia in plain view. The driver was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI).

Following the arrest, the vehicle was impounded pending a search warrant. During the subsequent search, Officer Newman recovered:
• Over 160 fentanyl pills
• Over 50 grams of additional narcotics
• $3,000 in cash

The suspect has since been arrested and formally charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute.

This case is a perfect example of how much of an impact our community can have; thank you to the caller who took the time to report this, and excellent work by Officer Newman for her diligence in getting these drugs off our streets.

If you live in Snohomish County and your mail has recently been stolen, investigators believe a major player in an ongoing mail theft operation is now behind bars.

On 5/20/26, detectives with the Lynnwood Police Department arrested 37-year-old Jeffery Mann following a weeks-long investigation. He was taken into custody in downtown Everett just blocks from the Snohomish County Jail.

Investigators allege Mann targeted cluster mailboxes throughout Stanwood, Marysville, and Arlington using counterfeit postal keys to access large amounts of stolen mail. Detectives say the investigation revealed victims’ identities were then used to rent U-Hauls, access bank accounts, and commit additional fraud-related crimes. Investigators also allege Mann disguised himself as a USPS employee and wore USPS clothing during some of the thefts.

During the arrest, detectives recovered more than 432 grams of suspected methamphetamine, along with large amounts of suspected stolen mail, counterfeit postal keys, fraudulent identification documents, and other evidence connected to identity theft and fraud crimes.

Mann was booked into the Snohomish County Jail and is facing numerous felony allegations, including identity theft, forgery, burglary, possession of stolen property, mail theft, vehicle theft, possession of stolen mail, and narcotics-related offenses. Additional criminal filings in King County are also anticipated as the investigation continues.

Outstanding work by Lynnwood detectives and assisting agencies throughout the investigation.

Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest impact. 💚

Recently, a post in a local Lynnwood community group caught our attention. A child had created “missing” flyers for their lost green crayon. The story was so genuine and wholesome that one of our incredible volunteers decided they had to help.

That volunteer, who serves with the Lynnwood Police Department, set out on a mission to make sure the “green crayon kid” would never be without a green crayon again. After purchasing replacement green crayons, a crayon doll, and writing a heartfelt note, they teamed up with members of LPD to put together a special goody bag filled with extra surprises and police swag.

When our volunteer returned to the location of the flyers to deliver the gift, everything came full circle. As they arrived, the child’s father happened to pull up and asked, “Is that for the green crayon kid?” It turns out it was his daughter all along.

This is what COMMUNITY looks like. It’s neighbors looking out for one another, volunteers going above and beyond, and small gestures reminding us all how much kindness matters.

To our amazing volunteer and to the Lynnwood community, thank you for making this city such a special place. 💚

If you witnessed the large police presence and commotion around Home Depot yesterday evening, here’s what happened:

Around 6pm, we received multiple 911 calls reporting a group chasing someone through the Home Depot parking lot while armed with a handgun.

Officers were already nearby in the Total Wine parking lot handling unrelated calls and quickly responded to the area. Upon arrival, officers observed two males running from the scene. After a lengthy foot pursuit, both were taken into custody.

During the search, officers recovered an unserialized handgun with an extended magazine along the path of the pursuit.

Through the investigation, officers learned a juvenile female was also believed to have brandished a firearm during the incident. Officers later located her exiting Home Depot. During the arrest, she briefly struggled with officers and attempted to disarm Officer Husted before being taken into custody.

Investigative information indicates the involved parties are believed to have known gang affiliations.

The male in the blue hoodie and the juvenile female were both booked into jail on multiple charges.

Great work by all responding units, a quick shoutout to SCSO for the assist, and appreciation to the numerous witnesses who provided timely and accurate information that helped bring a fast-moving and volatile situation under control.

On 03/21/2026, officers responded to Alderwood Mall Blvd and Alderwood Mall Parkway for a rollover collision. The at-fault driver was determined to be impaired and was arrested for DUI and reckless driving.

Thankfully, no one was injured in either vehicle, including young children who were in the vehicle that rolled. All occupants were properly secured in age-appropriate car seats and seat belts.

These incidents are a reminder that seatbelts and proper restraints matter every time.

With the Occupant Protection Campaign starting in May, focused on seatbelt use and enforcement, it is a good reminder:

Drive sober. Buckle up. Every trip. Every time.
