Congratulations to the Massachusetts Fire Academy recruit class 339, including our 8 Lynn Recruits, on your graduation this morning. Their time dedication and hard work have paid off. We welcome them back to the department next week, where they will receive their temporary assignments, until the completion of their probationary period.

Today Local 739 was in Boston for the funeral of Boston Firefighter Robert “BK” Kilduff. Thank you to the Gregg House for letting our members park, McGinn bus company for providing transport and the Lynn Police Dept for providing an es**rt to the funeral sight.

As expected with today's wind and rain, trees, their root systems, and wires are a concern throughout the city. Please remember to exercise caution when navigating the city streets, stay clear of any downed electrical lines, and report any emergencies promptly. Also, understand that utility services are busy and it may take time for services to be restored in certain areas.

No injuries were reported as this tree's root system gave way in the wind and rain, toppling down on a parked vehicle in East Lynn.

Please spread the word! Unfortunately all of the high hopes and positive thinking could not contend with predicted 40 mph winds. We are saddened to say that we will be postponing all events for a later date. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but look forward to a great day with the weather we deserve.

A somber morning in the fire service on this Memorial Day weekend. The men and women of the Lynn Fire Department stand with our brothers and sisters in Boston mourning the loss of Brother Robert Kilduff Jr., Rescue Co. 2, who tragically died in the line of duty last night.

Firefighter Kilduff was a third-generation firefighter and a United States Marine Veteran. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers today.
