🚫 Keep it Safe, Leave it to the Professionals: Fireworks are ILLEGAL in Massachusetts

The Lynn Office of Emergency Management reminds all residents that Massachusetts has a strict ban on consumer fireworks. There is no such thing as a “legal backyard firework display” in our city. All legal fireworks must be licensed & permitted by the State Fire Marshal’s Office and the city.

Instead of risking fines, injuries, or devastating fires, stay safe and leave it to the professionals!

📉 The Law & Penalties
It is illegal to possess, use, or sell fireworks in MA without a license. This includes sparklers, which burn at a dangerous 2,000°F —hot enough to melt copper and cause instant third-degree burns.

If you are caught with fireworks:
Mandatory Seizure: By law, any qualified officer shall and must immediately confiscate all fireworks to be destroyed.

Fines: Possession results in automatic confiscation and fines up to $100.
