Where We're Working 🚧

Starting Monday, June 8, and continuing for about two weeks, Lynchburg Water Resources consultant Brown and Caldwell and contractor Duke’s will inspect and study the City’s sewer system in the Westend neighborhood off of Memorial Avenue. Normal daily working hours will be 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday (no weekends or holidays).

Residents in the area shown on the map may see field crews installing flow monitors in manholes on or near their property within the existing sewer easements. Also, inspectors will need to identify existing stairwell basement drains on the exterior of homes. There should be no unauthorized disturbance of personal property.

Traffic impacts should be minimal during this work, with the potential for temporary flagging operations on Memorial Avenue if needed.

If you care about the safety of your household’s drinking water AND want to save out-of-pocket costs to replace your pipes if they’re made from lead, don’t waste any more time. Verify your service line material by doing a quick and easy scratch/magnet test and submit the information via our online survey today.

Here’s how to check:
-- Locate your service line where it enters your house (usually in the basement or crawlspace)
-- Scratch or stick to reveal!

To qualify for a FREE service line replacement if it’s confirmed lead, send your survey submission by July 1: https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/f729f47f1c19461a96beae026c9eb53e

A water service line is the pipe that carries the water you drink to your tap, so it’s important to make sure it’s lead-free. If you're unsure of your pipe's material, it's time to do some light detective work.

But don’t worry, it will only take a few minutes to solve this case!
-- Locate your service line (usually in the basement, crawlspace, or utility room)
-- Identify the material
-- Submit the info via our online survey: https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/f729f47f1c19461a96beae026c9eb53e

BONUS: Submit your survey by July 1, and you could qualify for a FREE water service line replacement if lead (and potentially galvanized) is confirmed.

Water is back on
——————

6:50 p.m. Update: Water outage will continue as crews are still working to fix the leak. Flagging operation remains in place for the duration.
____________

3:15 p.m. update: There is a flagging operation in place on Mayflower Drive (near the intersection with Perkins St), so the road is passable for through traffic, but there may be delays.

---

Lynchburg Water Resources crews are working to assess and repair a waterline break in the 3200 block of Mayflower Drive. The section of Mayflower Drive between Carroll Avenue and Avalon Road is temporary closed to through traffic. There is also a temporary water outage for customers in this stretch of Mayflower Drive. Please watch this post for updates.

Customers in the area could experience discolored water or air in their waterlines, and should run cold water in a bathtub for three to five minutes to flush their lines. If the water remains discolored, customers can contact LWR at 434.455.4250.
