Statement from the Chairman:

“After a lot of thought, and a lot of prayer, I have decided that after three years as Chairman of the College Republicans at the University of Lynchburg, I will be resigning on February 1. This decision does not come lightly, but after seeing the great turnout this year from freshman club members, I know that the future is bright, and I know that this club will benefit from having the class of 2024. I don’t regret anything these past three years, this has been the greatest joy of my life, and I will never forget my time as Chair. Pursuant to the Club Constitution, Vice Chairman Christopher Bunton, a Senior, will be the chair for the next five months, until his graduation in the Spring. I have a great confidence in Chris, and I know that he will lead this club well for the remainder of the year.”

We had a great event tonight; THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SHOWED UP!

Our country may be divided, but at Lynchburg, we’re one Hive. Tonight, Chris Pierson (left), president of Lynchburg’s College Republicans, and Matthew Gillett, president of the University’s Young Democrats, are coming together for a “Courageous Conversation.” The 7 p.m. event in Memorial Ballroom (socially distanced, of course) is hosted by the Student Government Association, the Office of Equity and Inclusion, and the Center for Community Engagement.

“This conversation will be a means to share your fears and concerns in a safe space, free of divisive rhetoric,” the SGA wrote in an email. “We also will seek to provide clarity around the results, even if the outcome has not yet been determined.”

We join in sorrow with the nation at Justice Ginsberg’s death. A maverick on the Court, Justice Ginsberg was truly a unique and different Justice, on all accounts. Her pursuit for justice began in her childhood and lasted a lifetime. She will be missed by all.
