C SHIFT — WORKING FIRE | 2ND ST. | 9/13/26

Engine 6 goes into Engine 1’s area for the working fire.

Battalion 1 arrived with heavy fire showing from the B side and took command. Engine 1 / Medic 1 arrived shorty after and quickly knocked down the fire while conducting a search simultaneously. Medic 1 located a dog inside the residence and handed the dog over to the E6 crew.

E6 was initially assigned RIT, then assisted M4 with caring for the dog before transitioning to overhaul.

Great work by all crews on scene.

“THE PARK” 🌶️

Located at 2084 Fort Avenue in Battalion 1, Fire Station 6 has a long standing tradition of service to the community.

The station was built in 1912 and opened in November 1914, making it the oldest active fire station in the Lynchburg Fire Department and the only station in the city with an active fire pole.

Today, Station 6 is home to Engine 6 and Medic 6, proudly serving the citizens of Lynchburg and responding from the heart of the city around the clock.

The City of Lynchburg has selected Brad Creasy as its next Fire Chief following a comprehensive national recruitment process.

With more than 30 years of fire and emergency services experience, including leadership at the local, regional, and state levels, Creasy brings a strong track record in firefighter wellness, workforce development, operational excellence, and community engagement.

Currently serving as Executive Director of the Virginia Department of Fire Programs, he has helped advance firefighter training, safety initiatives, and fire service programs across the Commonwealth.

Creasy is expected to officially begin his role in July, following the completion of standard pre-employment requirements.

C SHIFT | Busy Night at The Park

Around 2200 hours, Engine 6 responded to a dumpster fire on Craddock Street called in by Medic 6. Due to the dumpster's close proximity to the structure, the incident was upgraded to a full assignment. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and prevented extension to the nearby building. Units held: E6, E1, R1, T1, M6, and Battalion 1.

Just after midnight, at approximately 0030 hours, a full response was dispatched to the 1700 block of Texas Avenue. Engine 6 arrived to find smoke showing from the Alpha and Delta sides of the residence. Occupants had safely evacuated prior to arrival. Crews deployed a handline and located a cooking-related fire inside the home. The residence was ventilated and all units cleared the scene after approximately 45 minutes. Units on scene: E6, E1, E2, R1, T1, M6, M1, and Battalion 1.

C SHIFT – A glimpse of the MVA Engine 6 and Medic 6 responded to in the 2800 Block of Campbell Ave earlier today just before 1 PM. There was fire showing from the engine compartment on arrival, which was quickly extinguished. Downed power lines closed that section of Campbell Ave in both directions.
