Yesterday was a meaningful and memorable gathering for the Rotary Club of Lynchburg!

We came together to celebrate the “World’s Greatest Meal,” a special Rotary tradition focused on raising funds to support the global fight against polio. Thanks to the generosity of our members and guests, donations from this event will help provide life-saving vaccines to children in underserved communities around the world. It’s a powerful reminder that even a simple meal can make a lasting impact far beyond our own community.

We were also excited to mark a new chapter by officially cutting the ribbon on our new bi-monthly meeting location at Acorn Hill Lodge. This beautiful venue provides the perfect setting for fellowship, service, and celebration, and we look forward to many more gatherings here in the future.

Moments like these highlight what Rotary is all about: coming together to serve, connect, and create positive change both locally and globally.

We were thrilled to have Area 5 Assistant Governor Traci Blido join us for our meeting.

We missed those who were unable to join us and hope to see you at our next meeting!

What an inspiring meeting we had on Tuesday, April 14th!

President Kris Shabestar shared her incredible experience traveling to Argentina as part of the Wheelchair Foundation. Through her photos and heartfelt stories, she brought us along on a journey of compassion, service, and global impact.

Her presentation was a powerful reminder of how even small acts can create life-changing opportunities for others. We are so grateful for her leadership and for bringing back such meaningful inspiration to our club.

Rotarian Lisa Pierce traveled to Montrose, Pennsylvania over Easter to visit family. While there, she attended a meeting of the newly combined Montrose and New Milford Rotary clubs. She was invited to speak about youth exchange programs, emphasizing the value of person-to-person diplomacy and the lasting impact the experience had on her own life and direction.

Coincidentally, the District Governor was in attendance, as the region is currently considering restarting its exchange programs. Adding to the occasion, a former member of the Montrose club was present and recalled interviewing Lisa for her 1981–1982 exchange to Sweden. There were also three other returned Rotary exchange students at the meeting—one dating back to the 1970s—each of whom is now an active Rotary member.

As a special touch, Lisa’s mother was also invited and was absolutely delighted to attend.
