Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Virginia Big Brothers Big Sisters is the oldest and largest mentoring organization in the country.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Virginia specializes in putting positive, caring role models in the lives of at-risk youth in hopes the relationship they build puts the child on a better path toward success. Since 1904, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been providing children with the guidance and direction that all youth need. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Virginia is an affiliate of the national organization and has been providing high quality mentoring services to the Central Virginia area since 1972. Children that have been served through one of our mentoring programs are better off academically, socially and within their own personal competencies than had they never had a mentor.

Last week, we had such a great time celebrating with a ribbon cutting at Jubilee Family Center and officially unveiling the new pergola and sandbox our amazing volunteers built over the summer!

A lot of hard work, teamwork, and heart went into these projects, and we’re so proud of what was accomplished.

We’re grateful for our partnership with Jubilee Family Dev. Center and Vector Space Space! Also, thankful for everyone who helped make this project possible. There’s nothing better than seeing our community come together to create something that will be enjoyed for years to come!

Mentoring Works connects high school students in Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs with local professionals and skilled tradespeople who can share real-world experience, answer questions, and help students prepare for what comes next.

♠️♥️ WHAT. A. DAY! ♦️♣️

A BIG thank you to every sponsor, participant, marina, card stop, volunteer, and supporter who helped make this year’s Big Little Poker Run such an incredible success!

The day was filled with tons of fun, big smiles, great spirits, and an amazing community coming together for Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Together, we raised money that will go directly back into our programs, helping us create and support life-changing mentoring relationships for the kids in our programs.

We are incredibly grateful for the businesses and marinas that welcomed us, the sponsors who believed in our mission, and every single person who hopped on a boat (in spite of the water levels) and joined us for the ride. We truly could not do what we do without you!

Five local teens gained woodworking skills and confidence through an eight-week summer program by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Virginia, Vector Space, and BWX Technologies mentors, building a sandbox and shade structure for the Jubilee Family Development Center. ⤵️ Find a link to the story in the comments.
