๐Ÿ’ง600 buckets = 3,000 gallons!

Thatโ€™s 600 five-gallon buckets โ€” the average amount of water used in a single irrigation cycle by many lawns that rely on guesswork instead of proper scheduling.

Lets give people the benefit of the doubt:
(If their sprinkler system is calibrated correctly โ€” and they understand that time and flow rate matter!)
๐Ÿ’ฆ518 buckets = 2,592 gallons

๐Ÿ‘‰ Thatโ€™s still just one watering.

Now imagine the impact if you...
๐Ÿ–Skipped just one watering day a week
๐ŸŒงTurned your sprinklers off when it rains
๐ŸŒฟReplaced part of your lawn with drought-tolerant plants and drip irrigation
๐Ÿ˜€Followed the weekly watering guide for how many days to water each week

Small changes = BIG savings. ๐Ÿ’ฆ

Still skeptical of our bucket math?

As you head out to enjoy Wyomingโ€™s lakes and reservoirs this Memorial Day Weekend, the Wyoming DEQ reminds everyone to keep an eye out for harmful cyanobacteria blooms (HCBs). These blooms can look like spilled paint, scum, mats, or grass clippings and can be harmful to people, pets, and livestock.

If you spot a possible bloom, avoid the water where blooms are present, keep pets and animals away, donโ€™t swallow water from a bloom, avoid water spray, and rinse off immediately if exposed. Report suspected blooms or illnesses at WyoHCBs.org.

Stay safe, stay aware, and help protect Wyomingโ€™s waters this holiday weekend.

Drought conditions this summer may cause poisonous plants to be more prevalent than in other years. Since weeds often grow more quickly than grass under drought stress, animals may eat more toxic plants if forage availability is low. Check out these resources and keep a look out for those nasty players!
