The Kewaunee County Land and Water Conservation Department (LWCD) provides technical and/or financial assistance to Kewaunee County landowners, land operators, and municipalities in their effort to protect and enhance our land and water resources. This is accomplished through various local, state, and federal conservation programs, focusing mainly on agricultural soil erosion, animal waste storage
s and runoff management, nutrient management, conservation planning, streambank/shoreline erosion control, nonmetallic mining reclamation, education and outreach, and groundwater quality and protection. The LWCD works cooperatively with many other agencies including DNR, NRCS, DATCP, FSA and UW- Extension, and is a member of the Great Lakes Land and Water Conservation Association and the Lake Michigan Land Conservation Association. The Kewaunee County LWCD staff is responsible for the administration of the county soil and water conservation program and may exercise the powers granted to the Land and Water Conservation Committee (LWCC).
