🌟 Employee Spotlight: Kristina Kay Alexander, RN, ER Manager

This week, we're proud to shine the spotlight on Kristina Kay Alexander, RN, our dedicated ER Manager at Crenshaw Community Hospital!

Kristina has been part of the CCH family for one year and brings nearly 20 years of nursing experience to our team. Her passion for helping others during their times of need shines through in everything she does.

A proud mother of four and "Mimi" to four grandchildren, with another grandbaby on the way, Kristina loves spending time with family and friends. Whether she's enjoying a family cookout, boating, attending car shows, cheering on Alabama football, or simply soaking in a beautiful sunrise or sunset, she finds joy in life's little moments.

What Kristina enjoys most about working at CCH is collaborating with a team that genuinely cares about patients and treats them like family. She believes healthcare is more than a job—it's a passion and an opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day.

When she's not caring for patients, you'll find her traveling, reading, enjoying the outdoors, playing cards, or sipping on a good cup of coffee.

Her personal motto says it all:

"I choose to be kind because the world is not."

Today was such a fun and meaningful day for our patients and staff during our Mental Health Awareness Fun Day at Crenshaw Community Hospital 💚

From basketball and ring toss to cake walks, popcorn, dirty sodas, music, laughter, and fellowship, there was so much joy shared throughout the afternoon. Events like this remind us how important connection, encouragement, and simply having fun together can truly be.

A very special thank you to Tamyra and April for heading up this event. Their creativity, ideas, compassion, and heart for our patients are truly astounding. We are so incredibly lucky to have them.

We are also so proud of our entire hospital team, but especially our Behavioral Health Unit staff, for the love, care, encouragement, and support they pour into our patients every single day. The heart behind what they do does not go unnoticed.

Strong minds. Kind hearts. Better futures.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. It is a day to pause and remember the men and women who gave their lives for our country and the families who continue to carry that sacrifice every day.

Today, we honor their courage, their service, and the freedoms we enjoy because of them.

Our Behavioral Health Unit is incredibly special to us because mental health matters just as much as physical health. Every day, our team works hard to provide compassionate care, support, hope, and healing for those facing mental health challenges.

Happy EMS Week to the incredible emergency medical professionals who serve our communities every single day.

Many people casually refer to them as “ambulance drivers,” but their role is far more advanced than simply transporting patients.

Yes, they drive. But they also bring an emergency room on wheels and in the sky.

At Crenshaw Community Hospital, we are incredibly thankful for our EMS partners!

EMS professionals include EMTs, Advanced EMTs, Paramedics, Critical Care Medics, Flight Medics, Flight Nurses, and the highly skilled pilots who safely transport patients by helicopter when every second counts.

These teams are capable of providing advanced, lifesaving interventions such as:

• Advanced airway management and rapid sequence intubation
• Mechanical ventilation and oxygen therapy
• 12-lead ECG interpretation and treatment of heart attacks
• Cardiac monitoring, pacing, and defibrillation
• Administration of advanced emergency medications
• Blood product administration and critical care infusions
• Needle decompression and advanced trauma care
• Stroke assessment and time-sensitive interventions
• Continuous monitoring of critically ill patients during transport
• Rapid transport by ground and air to higher levels of care

In many situations, they are performing ICU and emergency room level care long before a patient reaches the hospital.

And yes, they also drive the ambulance.

Whether arriving by road or by air, these professionals combine advanced medical expertise, calm under pressure, and compassion to save lives every day.

That’s a wrap on Hospital Week at Crenshaw Community Hospital!

Today, our team suited up for our Men in Black theme and officially closed out an incredible week of fun, laughter, and celebration. From aliens to agents, our employees once again showed up and showed out.

A huge thank you to McDonald’s for providing breakfast this morning and helping us start our final day on a great note.

Congratulations to our costume contest winners, Cheyenne and Tiffany, who tied for first place. We guess the judges found them equally qualified to protect the hospital from extraterrestrial activity.

After a week filled with costumes, games, food, prizes, and lots of smiles, one thing is crystal clear: we have the best team around.

At CCH, we are more than coworkers. We are a family.

To all of our employees, thank you for your hard work, your dedication, and the care you provide to our patients and community every single day. You are truly out of this world, and we are so thankful for each and every one of you.
