HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 6 PM CDT TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 110 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Alabama, northwest
Florida, and southeast Mississippi.

* WHEN...From 11 AM to 6 PM CDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

.A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT SOUTHEASTERN BUTLER AND CENTRAL
CRENSHAW COUNTIES THROUGH 345 PM CDT...

At 303 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 10
miles east of Georgiana, or 11 miles south of Greenville, moving
northeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.

Locations impacted include...
Luverne, Rutledge, Petrey, and Highland Home.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Butler County in south central Alabama...
Crenshaw County in south central Alabama...
Northeastern Monroe County in south central Alabama...
Wilcox County in south central Alabama...

* Until 400 PM CDT.

* At 1154 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain
have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Greenville, Luverne, Camden, Georgiana, Brantley, Rutledge,
Vredenburgh, Glenwood, Yellow Bluff, Pine Apple, Petrey, Herbert,
Saucer, Forest Home, Shacklesville, Butler Springs, Manningham,
Ridgeville, Monterey and Providence.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

* At 513 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.

Falls, Red Level, Laurel Hill, Lockhart, Dozier, Heath, Gantt,
Roeville, Point Baker, Wing, Good Hope, Falco and Escambia Farms.

The risk for severe weather will continue to decrease as we go through the evening and the remainder of the tornado watch is set to expire at 5pm. However, we may see isolated severe thunderstorms with strong wind gusts over the southeastern portions of our area over the next couple of hours.

- A slow-moving band of very heavy rain will continue gradually shift south and east of the I-65 corridor early this evening. Areas of flash flooding are likely with this band as it will be capable of producing 2-3" of rain in a very short duration.

- We are also monitoring the potential for another band of very heavy rain and storms to develop behind this initial band. We are starting to see new thunderstorm activity develop across portions of inland southeast Mississippi into interior southwest Alabama. Some of our model guidance wants to intensify this band of activity this evening between the Highway 84 and I-10 corridors. If this materializes, our flash flood threat will once again ramp up with the potential for significant flash flooding in those areas. There are still considerable uncertainties on the extent of this development, but we will be watching the trends very closely.

- We think the thunderstorms and heavy rainfall will diminish after midnight, and we will enter a bit of a lull. However, additional numerous thunderstorms are likely to redevelop tomorrow morning into the afternoon. This could produce renewed flash flooding across portions of the area. It's tough to pinpoint specific locations at this time. Most of the area will remain in a Moderate Risk for excessive rainfall and the Flood Watch continues for all areas through 6pm Friday

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...

Northern Okaloosa County in northwestern Florida...

* Until 445 PM CDT.

* At 405 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Dozier to 4 miles south of Andalusia to 11
miles west of Laurel Hill, moving east at 25 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
Andalusia, Opp, Florala, Brantley, Laurel Hill, Lockhart, Dozier,
Heath, and Gantt.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 500 PM CDT for south central
Alabama...and northwestern Florida.
