🪲 An Assassin in the Garden?! 🌼

Take a close look at this yellow flower from the library garden. Can you spot the bug enjoying a little lunch break? 👀

The assassin bug uses its proboscis—a sharp, straw-like mouthpart—to pierce and immobilize its prey. It then injects its unfortunate victim with saliva that liquefies its insides before slurping up the resulting bug smoothie. 🤢

Sounds horrifying, right? But these creepy crawlers are actually great garden allies, helping keep a variety of common insect pests under control! 🌿

📚 Library Status: Quiet summer predator

🌿 Favorite Section: Flower blossoms, especially those buzzing with visitors

👀 Checks Out: Whatever wanders within reach

💪 Superpower: Staying perfectly still and camouflaged until unsuspecting prey comes close

💡 Borrowed Knowledge: Those powerful front legs are built for grabbing prey—and ambush bugs can sometimes capture insects much larger than themselves!

🔎 Can you find this helpful assassin bug in the LPL gardens?
